Meet Our Founder

Andrea Zaite graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 1990 with a Masters in Social Work Administration while working for the Help Foundation to deinstitutionalize people with disabilities. She worked as a manager/ administrator for the County Board of Mental Retardation 7 years prior to moving to Houston. Andrea started working in the medical field in Houston and spent 7 years as the ICU social worker/case manager. She has also provided care through Home Health, Hospice and hospital Case Management.

Andrea realized that many families never talk about their wishes should they become critically ill or require advance live support care. This lack of discussion often tore families apart and she wanted to find a way to help facilitate the discussion. She worked on becoming certified as a Grief Recovery Specialist to help with this process. She also provides in-service training and talks on grief recovery as well as “Having the Conversation”.

Andrea is currently the president of the South Central Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association. She sits on the UTMB Consultation Board and has served on the board for the Dementia Wise Study. Additionally, she sits on the board of a local non-profit, CAP of Pearland, designed to help community members with financial assistance as they face medical crisis.
